Inheriting Access from Parent Folder

  1. To inherit access from parent folder to the sub folder, right click the specified folder in the WinPST Navigation Pane, select Properties;
  2. In the pop-up window, check the Inherit access from parent box to inherit the access permissions set on the parent folder;
  3. Click OK to save the changes.
When you view the properties of this sub folder again, you will see that the User or Group and Access Level show in the User list are in grey, that means these access permissions are inherited from the parent folder.

If the sub folder has inherited access form the parent folder, but you want to grant Chris Snow, who has Read Access to the parent folder, Read/Create Access to the sub folder, you can grant Chris Snow the Read/Create Access individually.  This is called best access and the access has granted to Chris Snow will be shown as Read/Create Access.
